WP Report
Vinyl Acetate (VAM)
This World Petrochemical (WP) report on Vinyl Acetate (VAM) contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 120 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce Vinyl Acetate as well as capacities for derivative products.

Abstract
Global production and consumption of VAM in 2010 were 4.7 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 73% in 2010, an increase from 2009. Global VAM consumption in 2010 is estimated to have increased by 8% from 2009; however, it is expected to average growth of almost 4.6% per year from 2010 to 2015, and 2.7% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase to the mid-80s range by the end of the forecast period.
Vinyl acetate is used almost exclusively as a monomer for homopolymers and copolymers. Polyvinyl acetate accounted for over 47% of global VAM consumption in 2010; polyvinyl alcohol is the second largest end-use category, followed by EVA copolymers. Other VAM derivatives include vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers, copolymers with acrylonitrile (for acrylic fibers) and copolymers with vinyl pyrrolidone.
The following pie chart shows world consumption of VAM by end use:
