SBR and Related SB Polymers

This World Petrochemical (WP) report on SBR and Related SB Polymers contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections; production, consumption and trade are estimated for SB Latex, SBR Latex, SBR Solid and styrenic copolymers separately in the analysis. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 175 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce SBR and Related SB Polymers.

Abstract

Global production and consumption of SBR and related SB polymers in 2010 were estimated at 8.4 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 74% in 2010, an increase from 2009. SBR and SB polymers consumption is estimated to have increased by 9% in 2010; however, it is forecast to grow an average of 4.1% per year from 2010 to 2015, and 2.7% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to increase gradually to the high-70s to low-80s range by the end of the forecast period.

Solid SBR accounts for just over half of global SBR and related SB polymers consumption; SB latex takes up slightly more than a fourth, and styrenic copolymers, about 16% of total consumption. Consumption of SBR latex is small, at around 5% of the total. The end use applications for each category are discussed in detail in the analysis.
