WP Report
p-Xylene
This World Petrochemical (WP) report on p-Xylene contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 125 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce p-Xylene as well as capacities for derivative products.

Abstract
Global production and consumption of p-xylene in 2010 were each approximately 30 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 84% in 2010, unchanged from 2009. p-Xylene consumption is estimated to have increased by approximately 10% in 2010; it is expected to average growth of 4.6% per year from 2010 to 2015, and 3.6% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average utilization rates are expected to decline in 2010 and afterward gradually increase to the high-80s range by the end of the forecast period.
The primary use of p-xylene is for the production of terephthalic acid, accounting for 96% of global consumption in 2010. It is also used to make dimethyl terephthalate.
