Phenol-Formaldehyde (PF) Resins

This World Petrochemical (WP) report on PF Resins contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 140 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce PF Resins.

Abstract

Global production and consumption of PF resins in 2010 were approximately 3.1 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 57.8% in 2010, a slight increase from 2009. PF resins consumption in 2010 is estimated to have increased by 3.9% from 2009; it is expected to average growth of 3.9% per year from 2010 to 2015, with slower demand growth of around 2.7% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase to the low-70s range by the end of the forecast period.

The largest end use of PF resins is for production of wood adhesives, accounting for around 36% of total global consumption. Other applications include molding compounds, insulation, and laminates manufacture.
