WP Report
o-Xylene
This World Petrochemical (WP) report on o-Xylene contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five and ten year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 135 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce o-Xylene as well as capacities for derivative products.

Abstract
Global production and consumption of o-xylene in 2010 were approximately 3.9 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 73% in 2010. o-Xylene consumption is estimated to have increased in 2010; it is forecast to average growth of 4.4% per year from 2010 to 2015, slowing to 3.7% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to increase gradually to the low-90s range throughout the forecast period.
The primary use of o-xylene is for the production of phthalic anhydride, accounting for almost 92% of global consumption in 2010. Other applications include solvents in bactericides, herbicides, and lube oil additives, and as a raw material for the manufacture of polyethylene naphthalate (PEN).
