Abstract

Global production of crude oil in 2010 was approximately 83.9 million barrels per day. The current demand forecast assumes a global growth rate of 2.1% from 2010 to 2011 and an average growth rate of 1.6% from 2010 to 2020.

Almost one-third of world crude oil production in 2010 occurred in the Middle East, which was the largest producing region, followed by Central and Eastern Europe and North America. Over 27% of world consumption occurred in North America, which was the largest consuming region, followed by Northeast Asia and Western Europe. The following pie chart shows world consumption of crude oil in 2010 by region.
