WP Report
Acrylonitrile
This World Petrochemical (WP) report on acrylonitrile contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five- and ten-year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 138 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce acrylonitrile as well as capacities for its derivative products.

Abstract
Global production and consumption of acrylonitrile in 2010 were both almost 4.9 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 80.9% in 2010; this was an increase from 2009 due to a larger increase in production along with a slight increase in global capacity. Global acrylonitrile consumption is estimated to have increased by 3.2% in 2010; it is expected to average growth of 3.8% per year from 2010 to 2015, slowing to 1.8% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to gradually increase from the low 80s to the high 80s.
ABS/SAN resins account for just over 40% of total consumption. Acrylic fibers account for 40% of global acrylonitrile consumption. Other applications include acrylamide, adiponitrile/HMDA and nitrile rubber.
The following pie chart shows world consumption of acrylonitrile by end use:
