Acrylic Fibers

This World Petrochemical (WP) report on acrylic fibers contains complete global and country supply/demand balances for the base year, the past five years and five- and ten-year projections. The complete report including the analyses and supply/demand tables contains approximately 114 pages. There is also a table showing all global producers, their locations, and capacities (current, historical and future) to produce acrylic fibers.

Abstract

Global production and consumption of acrylic fibers in 2010 were both estimated at approximately 1.9 million metric tons. Global capacity utilization was 72.5% in 2010; this was an increase from 2009 due to a slight increase in production along with a decline in global capacity. Global acrylic fibers consumption growth is estimated to have remained flat from 2009; it is expected to increase by 3.2% per year from 2010 to 2015, slowing to 1.3% per year from 2015 to 2020. Average global utilization rates are expected to increase from the low 70s to the mid-80s range.

Apparel uses accounted for over half of total global acrylic fibers consumption in 2010. Other applications include industrial uses and home furnishings.
