Process Economics Program Report 6C
Acrylic Acid and Acrylic Esters
Published February 1987
This report supplements Process Economics Program reports on acrylic acid and acrylate esters issued in 1965 (Report 6), 1967 (Report 6A), and 1974 (Report 6B). The present study, like the previous reports, discusses preliminary process designs and associated costs for commercial routes to acrylic acid, n-butyl acrylate, and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate.
The report includes summaries of various patents on acrylic acid and acrylates that have been issued since PEP Report 6B was completed. In addition, the report includes a section on the basic chemistry of the evaluated processes, and a section on the current status of the acrylic acid industry. References are listed at the end of the report.
