Process Economics Program

Techno-Economic & Process Evaluation

Engineers and technical managers need to know if new technologies offer an opportunity or pose a threat. Since 1960, the Process Economics Program (PEP) has evaluated process economics of over 2000 process technologies used in chemicals, polymers, refining and biotech industries.

PEP’s experts continuously monitor global technical and commercial developments and provide insightful analysis needed to remain profitable in rapidly changing markets. These techno-economic analyses are delivered through a range of products and services unequaled in the industry:

  • Reports emphasize significant developments in process technology that have potential commercial implications for the chemical and energy industries. Topics are selected by subscribers to insure relevance to the industry’s needs.  Report coverage includes: industry status, patent and literature review, process review, process flow diagram, major equipment list, capital and production costs analysis, and economic parametrics.
  • Reviews provide timely analysis of important issues affecting the industry from process technology to industry restructuring.  The majority of reviews include a techno-economic analysis of an embryonic, emerging or commercial process technology back up by intellectual property analysis.

PEP YEARBOOK

PEP Yearbook provides chemical engineers with up-to-date production and economic data for over 1300 process technologies to produce over 600 chemicals, polymers and refinery products. The economics are provided with three capacity levels plus a user defined ability to change specific capacities. This allows for quick scaling analysis. Regions covered are the U.S. Gulf Coast, Germany, Japan and China, with limited processes for Canada and Saudi Arabia. (Read more)

PLANT CONSTRUCTION COST INDICES

The PEP Plant Construction Cost Indices provide semi-annual updates to our plant equipment and construction cost-escalation indices and location factors for the United States, Germany, and Japan.  These reports have been published consistently for the last 40 years and provide escalation factors for each major class of equipment, labor and engineering costs. The PEP Plant Construction Cost Indices is only available with a annual subscription to PEP.
